Only two new faces

KOTA
KINABALU: The new State Cabinet saw a minor
reshuffle with only one Minister dropped and two
new faces, including a full woman Minister,
being sworn-in before Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun
Ahmadshah Abdullah at Istana Negeri, Friday.
The 11-member line up announced by Chief
Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman at Seri Gaya saw
the three Deputy Chief Ministers from the
previous Cabinet - Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin
Kitingan, Datuk Raymond Tan and Datuk Yahya
Hussin - being retained.
Pairin and Tan also retained the portfolio of
Rural Development Minister and Infrastructure
Development Minister, respectively.
However, Yahya was assigned to the Agriculture
and Food Industry portfolio taking over from
Datuk Haji Abdul Rahim Ismail, who was dropped.
Taking over Yahya's previous portfolio of
Community Development and Consumer Affairs
Minister is Sabah Barisan Nasional's (BN) first
full woman Minister, Datuk Hajah Azizah Mohd
Dun.
Musa also announced that Liberal Democratic
Party (LDP) Supreme Council member and new
Karamunting Assemblyman Peter Pang En Yin would
fill up the LDP quota in the Youth and Sports
Ministry.
The post was previously held by Datuk Liew Yun
Fah, who is LDP Vice President and was not
re-nominated to defend his Merotai seat in the
March 8, election.
Musa did not make any changes in the four other
portfolios with Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor as the
Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Dr
Yee Moh Chai (Resources Development and
Information Technology Minister), Datuk Ewon
Ebin (Industrial Development Minister) and Datuk
Masidi Manjun (Tourism, Culture and Environment
Minister).
Musa, who also retained his previous portfolio
as the Finance Minister, said Datuk Nasir
Sakaran would remain as Minister in the Chief
Minister's Department.
Besides Rahim, the other senior Umno Ministers
not on the list was Datuk Karim Bujang who
declined the offer of Assistant Minister.
