PUTATAN: The opposition is making
unrealistic pledges that will never work even if
it gets to form the government by a long shot,
said the Barisan Nasional MP candidate here.
Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh said the opposition only
wanted to confuse the people by criticising the
BN government for the rise in the prices of
goods and claiming that they would be able to
lower prices if they come into power.
"Do they really think that the BN government
deliberately increased the prices? They
(opposition) are not clear how this happened.
The scarcity of petroleum has been affecting the
global market, not only us but also other
countries in the world.
"The BN government is giving out billions of
ringgit in subsidy for the people which, in
fact, could be used for other purposes,
especially development but the Government is
actually sensitive to the needs of the people as
well," he said after meeting with constituents
at the town, here, Sunday.
Mojigoh, who is also United Pasok Momogun
Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) Vice
President, said there was nothing wrong with the
call of 'Sabah for Sabahans' but it did not mean
that they have to be parochial.
He said the BN component parties from Sabah had
been fighting for the rights of Sabahans but "we
are doing it rationally within the BN".
To illustrate his point, he cited the setting up
of the special unit in the Prime Minister's
Department to look after the natives in Sabah
and Sarawak.
