PENAMPANG :
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) should stop
making baseless accusations at the
Barisan Nasional (BN) and instead ponder
their chances in the coming elections,
said a former People's Development
Leader for Moyog.
Bryan Lojingon
said that PKR only came into the scene
two elections ago and that it has never
won a seat in Sabah. "What has PKR done
for the people, especially the natives?"
he asked.
He said that Upko,
being member of BN was among the parties
targeted by the opposition but pointed
out that in Upko, the focal point of its
struggles is for the natives.
He rejected the
accusation that Upko distanced itself
from issues such as the Kampung Maang
problem after being criticised by Umno
members for its prominent stance against
it.
"Let us not forget
that the relocation did not happen. We
were criticised no doubt but that just
goes to show that Upko is not afraid to
speak up. They accuse us of being silent
but the end results prove otherwise,"
Lojingon said.
He went on to say
that BN's formula of including different
components of an organisation to
participate in any decision-making
process is a tried and tested one.
Towards this end
he said the formula is ideal for the
natives in Sabah to stay relevant in
mainstream development, saying that the
opposition's calls for natives to unite
under one banner was irrelevant as it
has been tried before during the Berjaya
and PBS rule.
Regarding talks of
Upko President Tan Sri Bernard Dompok
returning to Penampang to stand in the
election, Lojingon said that as the
party's chief, Dompok has the right to
choose where he wants to stand.
