Kota
Kinabalu: Upko will
spread its wings to Pahang at the end of this
month, with the opening of its Cameron Highlands
division.
Its
Secretary-General, Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau,
said the division would be its seventh in the
peninsula.
The party
presently has four divisions in Perak and one
each in Selangor and Johor, he said, adding
their divisions in Perak and the new one in
Pahang have been, and would be, joined by the
Orang Asli.
"The Orang
Asli who are members of our divisions in the
peninsula will also take part in our party's
first national convention that is scheduled here
next monthÉit also would be the first time they
will take part in our convention," he said,
adding the party had received encouraging
response from the Orang Asli.
The national
convention is to show Upko is a national party,
he said. It has 36 divisions throughout the
country.
Madius,
meanwhile, said Upko will also send its
representatives from the party's divisions in
the peninsula to assist the Barisan Nasional (BN)
machinery in facing the Bagan Pinang
by-election.
A meeting will
be held next week to discuss this matter, he
added.
