"On that Sunday, I never read the Council's stand yet because the newspaper that I subscribe (Daily Express) is usually sold out by 9.30am at Kamung Dambai in Penampang. Since I went to Mass that day, I did not get read the papers," he said.

"So that statement was never meat for Justices of the Peace Council but a general one, I would like to apologise for the misunderstanding," he said.

Lasimbang's statement was interpreted as criticising the comment by President of the National Justices of the Peace Council President, Datuk Clarance Bongkos Malakun who said the best way to stop the problem was for Christians to the willingly stop using the word "Allah"
